Looking for a fun way to get fit, meet new people, have more energy and explore beautiful Mayo?
Cycling is fast becoming one of the most popular forms of recreational physical activity. This summer Mayo Sports Partnership in conjunction with the Irish Sports Council, Western Lakes Cycling Club, North Mayo Cycling Club, Castlebar Cycling Club and the Covey Wheelers Cycling Club in Westport are inviting families and anyone who would like to try cycling as a fun physical activity to participate in the Mayo Cycle for Fun Series 2010.
Both North Mayo and Castlebar Cycling Clubs will commence their activities this Sunday 4th July with the others timetabled in August and September. Participants will need a bicycle and a helmet but if you do not have access to this equipment and would like to take part please contact the local organiser as they may be able to arrange some bike hire on the day. Loose clothing and a drink would also be useful. However all groups will provide some refreshments as part of the event.
A small entry fee may vary from event to event however it will cost no more than €2 per child and €5 per adult with a flat charge of €5 per family. Funds raised this way will go towards the local clubs costs in organising the event.
It is recommended that all participants should be aged 10 or over as of the 30/06/2010. All children must be accompanied by an adult / parent. Please contact the local organiser to confirm this as individual clubs may differ on policy in this regard.
If you are interested in participating all you have to do is to contact the local organiser on the event list below. You should also fill out an application form which should be presented to the organisers on the day of the event. These forms will be available from the local organiser or online at www.mayosports.ie/news
