Disability Sports

Sport in Cavan is every day and for everyone and inclusion is one of the focuses of our work.  While we work to encourage sport, exercise and physical activity in Cavan it is important to remember that some people need extra support.

To this end we have been supported through Cavan County Council, Pobal and the Irish Sports Council since 2008 to deliver a sports inclusion programme that designs programmes specific to the needs of people with disabilities.

These programmes allow us to work with groups, organisations and services that support people with disabilities.

The disability sports programme also includes training course and awareness raising which promote inclusive clubs.

Cavan Fact:
11.9% of the county’s population has a disability (8,714 people). This has increased from 8.5% in 2006.
