**Your Way to Healthy Cavan 5k**
A 5 week, your way to 5k plan to gradually build on jogging your way to 5k. 🏃‍♀️🏃
The plan is broken into 5min intervals as an easy to follow guide to build your fitness over the next 5 weeks. Please ensure you warm up and cool-down before and after your workout. This is just a guide and can be done on days that suit your schedule! Posters below to demonstrate your warm up and stretches.
The Healthy Cavan 5k will take place throughout the month of November so you can complete your 5k at a time that suits you. All you have to do is register at the link below to receive your Healthy 5k T-shirt and medal, then post your photo and tag @CavanSportsPartnership and @HealthyCavan.

Becoming more active doesn’t have to mean organised sports, it can be fun activities and games that can be done on your own or with all the family.

Introducing your kids to games that you played when you were their age is a great way for everyone to get moving and active.

  •  SPORT IRELAND NATIONAL BEACTIVE DAY - Sunday 28th June.  International guidelines recommend children are active for at least 60 minutes a day and adults for 30 minutes a day 

    National BeActive Day is a fun and inclusive way of getting in your daily physical activity.

  • Cavan Sports Partnership is dedicated to keeping the children of Cavan fit & healthy and so we have designed an ‘Explore Cavan Challenge’ so pupils can have fun, run and learn about their county.

    Pupils will virtually explore as many of Cavan's towns and hills as they possibly can by accumulating their steps (walking, jogging or running) within the 5k radius and skipping, jumping jacks or mountain climbs to accumulate the metres and reach the top of those hills. 

    All participating schools will be offered a FREE fun physical activity session in the new school year.

Minister Zappone launches suite of resources for children and parents

The new online resource for parents, entitled Parents Centre on gov.ie will provide additional support for parents and their families during this difficult time.   Parents Centre contains information for parents and provides links to a wide range of trusted and high quality online resources including learning, parenting and information on supports for parents. It is easy to navigate and will help parents access the information and support they need quickly. It will be updated as new resources and information for parents are developed.

Minister Zappone also launched an initiative for children- Let’s Play Ireland - a gov.ie resource to support children and young people’s play during this time.
Let’s Play Ireland is an online portal on Gov.ie, providing access to a range of play resources for children.  The Department of Children and Youth Affairs has worked with key experts across various sectors, Early Years, Education, Health, Local Authorities, Academic Partners in UCC and Mary Immaculate College, Creative Ireland, Tusla and others, in order to develop this resource.  

Active HOME Week (April 27th – May 3rd)

National ‘Active SCHOOL Week’ takes place every April and is a really enjoyable part of the school year for many children. This year, because of COVID-19, it is not possible for this to go ahead as normal, so families are invited to participate in the ‘Active HOME Weekchallenge instead.  To find out more CLICK HERE
