5. Active School Week

National Active School Week (#ASW21) takes place 26-30 April. If this week doesn’t suit, schools are free to organise their #ASW21 programmes later in the term.

#ASW21 – Active Every Day Challenge
The #ASW21 Active Every Day challenge encourages schools and homes to work together to help more children and young people, gain more active minutes every day.
 The challenge has three parts:

  1. Active at SCHOOL

Schools are challenged to find three different ways to energise the school day.

  1. Daily CHALLENGES

Schools are asked to replace written homework with #ASW21 DAILY Challenges.
These physical activity challenges could be set by a member of staff, a sports organisation, a local/national role model, or an Olympian athlete

  1. Active at HOME

Parents and Guardians to encouraged to find ways to encourage children and young people to find ways of being active after school.
Even better if the whole family joins in!

#ASW21 - #FeelGoodFridays LOCAL HERO Day (30/4/21)
This initiative asks schools to look to their local communities for a physical activity role model, and to invite this LOCAL HERO to set a physical activity challenge for their students and staff.

Schools that share their #FeelGoodFridays Local Hero photos/videos with @ActiveFlag  @HealthyIreland  could win a set of outdoor speakers.
